An Oklahoma City firefighter‑turned‑street‑racing legend, James “Doc” Love burst onto Discovery’s Street Outlaws in 2013 with his nitrous‑fed 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo, “Street Beast.” The brute quickly climbed to the top of the 405 list, earning the 2016 “King of the Streets” crown and cementing Doc as one of the franchise’s original heavy‑hitters.
After a violent 2020 crash destroyed the Monte Carlo, Doc returned to No Prep Kings with a screw‑blown Nova dubbed “Heavy Metal,” pairing billet‑Hemi power with High Performance Lubricants protection. The rebuilt program paid off with multiple invitational round‑wins in Seasons 6 and 7, and for 2025 Doc has updated the combination with larger PSI rotors and fresh four‑link geometry, keeping the lone‑star blue hot rod firmly in the NPK points chase while he continues to operate Doc’s Machine shop and mentor new 405 talent.
