Sammy Swindell, one of the most esteemed figures in American motorsports, began his racing career influenced by his father’s participation in local dirt tracks around Memphis, Tennessee. In 1971, at just fifteen years old, Swindell made his debut at Riverside Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas.
Demonstrating exceptional talent from the onset, he secured eleven feature wins in his rookie season.
